Logistics Workers Struggles in Turkey: Possibilities and Strategies for the Future
In this paper we will focus on the current struggles of logistics unions (which have organized in docks, seafaring, warehousing, trucking, railways, and aviation) of Turkey. First of all, we will briefly analyze the labor process of logistics industry in neoliberal Turkey. After that, we will have a number of in-depth interviews with union organizers and also militant workers in logistics industry, for revealing opportunities and disadvantages of current struggles. We will also try to analyze some flashpoints of logistics workers struggles in Turkey, like “Turkish Airlines Strike of 2013”. Finally, we will discuss the future possibilities and potential strategies for unions and militant workers in the logistics industry.
